5 Tips to Avoid the Crowds This Summer

Summer will soon be in full swing and you are probably looking to get away for a little while, especially after all of those pandemic restrictions. You're not alone, and it's likely going to be a busy summer. Meanwhile, no one can blame you for wanting to keep your distance from crowds.

Whether you want to avoid germs or people in general, here are five tips that will help you avoid crowds this summer.

1. Book a Vacation Rental

Consider booking a vacation rental, like a cabin rental, rather than a hotel or motel. Vacation rentals provide you with your own home-like space for you and your family. Many are located in quiet areas that are just far enough out from popular tourist areas yet close enough to enjoy your destination. With a more relaxed atmosphere, you'll be able to relax and enjoy your time away without the aggravation of crowds.

2. Avoid Peak Times

Avoid peak times like July 4th or Labor Day. If you don't have to work around school schedules, try to plan your vacation for just after school starts. The weather will be just as nice, and you won't have to worry about fighting the crowds. Similarly, try visiting on weekdays rather than on a weekend.

3. Get Up Early

The earlier in the day you leave your hotel or vacation rental, the less likely you are to see a crowd of tourists or get stuck in traffic jams. If you're vacationing in a popular tourist destination, heading out early will also allow you to enjoy the sights before any tour buses or cruise ships arrive.

4. Make Reservations Early

Get reservations, and get them early. Many destinations require reservations specifically to keep crowds down due to the pandemic.

5. Visit Hidden Gems

Find those hidden gems and consider a destination that's not as popular. The less known the location, the more likely you are to find your own space and avoid crowds (or at least experience them on a much smaller scale).

We hope these five tips can help you avoid crowds this summer and have a more relaxing vacation.
